Description

The Schneider Electric LC1DWK12M7 TeSys D Capacitor Contactor is designed specifically for switching capacitor banks used in automatic power-factor correction (APFC) applications. Unlike a standard motor contactor, this capacitor contactor incorporates a dedicated switching arrangement intended to manage the high transient inrush current that occurs when capacitors are energized.

The LC1DWK12M7 is suitable for capacitor switching at 12.5 kVAr at 400V AC, 50Hz. It uses a 220V AC control coil operating at 50/60Hz, allowing it to be integrated into conventional industrial control circuits.

The contactor uses 3 main poles and is equipped with early-make auxiliary contacts connected to current-limiting resistors. These resistors are inserted momentarily during capacitor energization to reduce the initial current peak before the main contacts close. This design helps protect the capacitor bank and switching equipment from excessive transient currents.

The Schneider LC1DWK12M7 is part of the TeSys D capacitor contactor range, making it particularly suitable for power-factor correction panels, where capacitor stages are automatically connected and disconnected according to the reactive-power demand of an electrical installation.

It can be used in industrial plants, commercial buildings, manufacturing facilities, HVAC systems, motor-control installations, and electrical distribution panels where automatic reactive-power compensation is required.

The contactor’s compact TeSys D construction allows it to be integrated into control panels alongside APFC controllers, capacitor banks, HRC fuses, reactors, and other power-factor correction components.

For applications requiring dependable capacitor switching, the LC1DWK12M7 provides a purpose-designed alternative to using a conventional contactor, helping improve switching reliability and reduce the electrical stress associated with capacitor-bank energization.
